Crime Statistics

The Washington Association of Sheriffs & Police Chiefs (WASPC) maintains the crime statistics of the state of Washington. In 2018, Okanogan County reported a total number of 193 reported crimes in Okanogan County, including 25 violent crimes and 168 property crimes. The violent crimes reported include one murder, one rape, and 23 aggravated assaults. Incidences of property crimes include 72 burglaries, 83 larcenies, nine motor vehicle thefts, and two arsons.

When compared with the 2014 numbers, these figures represent a significant decline in total crimes. Between 2014 and 2018, violent crimes reported were murder (0%), rape (-75%), robbery (-100%), and aggravated assaults (-34%) in Okanogan County. In the same five-year period, property crimes showed burglaries (-33%), larcenies (-5257, motor vehicle thefts (-68%), and arsons (0%).

How to Find Okanogan County Sex Offender Information

The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office provides residents of the county with access to sex offender information through the Offender Search tool. Residents can search this database to can locate registered sex offenders in their neighborhoods.

Sex offenders are categorized into three levels, namely Level III offenders (high-risk and most likely to re-offend), Level II offenders (moderate risk), and Level I (low risk). Information about accessing Level III offenders is provided to residents on the county’s sex offender registry. Information about Level II offenders is available only to schools, daycare centers, and businesses that cater to children, women, and vulnerable groups. While information about Level I offenders can be obtained by other law enforcement agencies only. Individuals can however obtain information about Level I and II offenders if the reason for the release is deemed justified.

Inmates in the correction center can be visited twice every week. Visitation time has a maximum limit of 15 minutes. Visitors must call (509) 422-7230 at least 24 hours in advance to schedule visitation. Visitation takes place on Friday between 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Visitation is done through video, either onsite or offsite.
