Crime Numbers
The Washington Association of Police and Sheriffs provides crime statistics for Grant County. In 2018, there were a total of 316 violent crimes including 38 sex offenses, 4 kidnappings, 210 simple assaults, and 64 aggravated assaults. There were also 1,119 property crimes, including 6 robberies, 278 burglaries, 483 larcenies, 141 motor vehicle thefts, 2 arsons, and 209 cases of destruction of property. There were no murders in 2018.
Between 2014 and 2018, incidences of sex offenses (22.6%) increased in the county. However, aggravated assaults (-25.6%), simple assaults (-42.1%), robberies (-14.3%), burglaries (-23.4%), larcenies (-38.1%), motor vehicle thefts (-19.9%), arsons (-85.7%), destruction of property (-41.8%), and murders (-100%), all reduced.
Criminal Records
The Washington State Patrol (WSP) provides Criminal History Reports for Grant County. The WSP’s criminal history reports are available online, by mail, and in person. To request for a criminal history report online, use the Washington Access to Criminal History (WATCH) to create a Credit Card Account by providing personal details, a User Name and a credit or debit card. Search results show a list of records that best match the details provided. Each name search costs $11 regardless of the search outcome.
The WATCH also allows verification requests of online reports by fingerprint, for free. To request for fingerprint verification, the subject of the report must place a thumbprint on the front lower right-hand corner of the report. To request for a criminal history report by mail, download and complete a Request for Conviction Criminal History Form. A name-based search costs $32. A fingerprint-based search costs $58 and requires a full set of fingerprints on a fingerprint card. The WSP’s criminal history reports are limited to information on convictions. However, certified criminal justice agencies have access to unrestricted information. Registered non-profit organizations may create non-profit accounts and perform searches free of charge, for convictions against vulnerable adults and minors.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office maintains a database of sex offenders in the county, through the Sex Offender Registration and Tracking Unit. Use the Offender Search to find Grant County sex offenders by First Name, Last Name, City, Address, and Zip Code. The search function also lists non-compliant sex offenders.
The Grant County Corrections Division operates two detention facilities, including the Grant County Jail and the Grant County Work Release Center. The Grant County Jail is the main detention facility, while the Grant County Work Release Center is for minimum- to medium-security post-sentence inmates. The Release Center also provides the Grant County Courts with work release as an alternative to a full sentence. The Corrections Division provides a current in-custody list of inmates in both facilities. Search this list to find inmates incarcerated in both detention facilities.

The Grant County Jail allows visitations for inmates placed in Minimum Classification on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Inmates with Medium Classification may receive visitors on Mondays and Thursdays, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Maximum Classification inmates may receive visitors only on Wednesdays, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The Grant County Work Release Center allows visits on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Visits are also permitted on Thursday through Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Visitations at both facilities are allowed for a maximum of 30 minutes. Visitors are allowed one visit per day and must be present at least 10 minutes before the visit begins with their government-issued photo IDs.
The Sheriff’s Office offers a Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE) service. VINE automatically contacts registered members of the public when an inmate is transferred, released, escapes, or any other change in the inmate’s custody status. Court Records
Grant County has a Superior Court, two District Courts, and 11 Municipal Courts. The Superior Court has general jurisdiction over all cases, except when they are in the exclusive jurisdiction of the District Courts. The District Courts have limited jurisdiction over civil and criminal cases. The jurisdiction of Municipal Courts is limited to city violations. All Grant County Court records are available to the general public.
Court records are available to the public from the Office of the Grant County Clerk. To access Superior Court records, complete the Request for Superior Court Records application. Each record search costs a minimum initial fee of $15. E-mail copies cost 25 cents per page while regular copies cost 50 cents per page. Certified copies cost $5 for the first page and $1 for each additional page. Additional fees may be added if the search takes more than 30 minutes.
